Scrap It! Curbside
Pilot Program for Curbside Food Waste
The City of Buffalo pilot food scrap curbside collection program is funded with a grant from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. This project period is one year. After the one-year period, the City will evaluate the feasibility of continuing the program. Participation in this pilot program is not a guarantee of the program continuing or continuing as a no-fee service.
The City is utilizing a private contractor to collect and process the food scraps. Farmers Pirates Compost, LLC will collect weekly food scrap totes on your regularly scheduled garbage day.
The City of Buffalo is working on a grant from the DEC to expand the Scrap It! Curbside program. If you are interested in participating, please sign up to be on the waitlist on the Farmer Pirates website and a brown tote will be in your near future!
